Some children need a little extra support. Others need someone who can be their constant.

We're looking for an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1:1. This is a rewarding role for someone who understands that progress doesn't always happen at a desk, and that building trust comes before everything else.

The pupil has complex behavioural and social, emotional and mental health needs and spends significant periods of the school day working outside the classroom environment. The right person will be calm under pressure, consistent in their approach, and confident supporting children with additional needs in less structured settings.

There is flexibility for the successful candidate to start before the summer break if preferred, helping to build relationships and ensure a smooth transition into the new academic year.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly behavioural and SEMH needs
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Remains patient, resilient and adaptable, even on challenging days
  • Holds an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service
  • Can provide 24 months of references covering employment and/or education history

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Helping the child access learning both inside and outside the classroom
  • Working closely with teachers, the SEND team and wider professionals to provide consistent support

This isn't a role for someone looking for an easy day. It's for someone who understands that small wins matter, relationships take time, and the right support can completely change a child's experience of school.

If that sounds like your kind of work, we'd love to hear from you.
