SEND Teaching Assistant – Alnwick (Full-Time)

Looking for a rewarding role where you can make a lasting difference to children with additional needs?

A welcoming specialist provision in Alnwick is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs.

You'll play an important role in helping pupils access education, develop confidence and build the skills they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing and supportive environment where every pupil is encouraged to succeed at their own pace.

Location: Alnwick
Pay: £92.63 - £105 per day
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups
  • Helping pupils engage with classroom activities and learning
  • Supporting communication, social skills and emotional wellbeing
  • Encouraging independence and confidence
  • Adapting learning activities to suit individual needs
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Working closely with teachers, SEND staff and external professionals
  • Recognising and celebrating progress, no matter how small

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about supporting children and young people.

This role could be perfect if you are:

  • A Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge
  • A Support Worker wanting to move into education
  • A Youth Worker with experience supporting young people
  • A Care Worker with transferable skills
  • A Psychology Graduate seeking practical SEND experience
  • An aspiring Teacher or Educational Psychologist

Experience is beneficial, but not essential. The school values positive attitudes, strong relationship-building skills and a willingness to learn.
