Senior Planner - Infrastructure & Civil Engineering

The Opportunity

An established and growing infrastructure and civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Planner to join their team.

This is a genuine senior-level opportunity for an experienced Planner who can take ownership of programmes across a varied infrastructure workload, while also supporting pre-construction and work-winning activities.

The business currently has around 12 live projects, with workload fluctuating depending on project awards. The successful candidate will focus on some of the larger and more complex schemes, working closely with the operational and commercial teams.

The Role

You will be responsible for developing and managing programmes from pre-construction through to delivery, providing strong planning support across a range of infrastructure, enabling and earthworks projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and managing detailed construction programmes.

• Taking ownership of programmes on larger and more complex projects.

• Supporting pre-contract and tender activities on selected opportunities.

• Working closely with operational teams to ensure programmes are realistic and achievable.

• Monitoring progress against programme and identifying potential delays and risks.

• Contributing to work-winning and pre-construction activities.

Current and upcoming projects include infrastructure, enabling and earthworks schemes, including projects in the £8m-£10m range and larger NEC3 infrastructure opportunities.

About You

We're looking for a Senior Planner who is comfortable working autonomously and can bring strong planning expertise to the business.

You'll ideally have:

• Strong experience as a Planner / Senior Planner within infrastructure, civil engineering, earthworks or a related construction environment.

• Experience managing programmes from pre-construction through delivery.

• Strong understanding of construction sequencing and methodologies.

• Experience working on projects from £1m upwards, ideally including larger £10m+ schemes.

• NEC experience, ideally including NEC3.

• Strong Primavera P6 experience, or a willingness to support the transition from MSP to P6.
