Got a sports background? Your skills belong in the classroom too.

You know how to motivate a team, build confidence, encourage resilience, and help young people achieve goals they never thought possible.

Now imagine using those skills to support pupils with additional needs and make a lasting impact every single day.

We're looking for energetic, positive, and resilient individuals with a background in sports coaching, fitness, mentoring, youth work, or team leadership to join specialist SEN and SEMH schools as Learning Support Assistants.

What you'll be doing

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with pupils who need additional support to engage with learning and develop confidence in school.

Your day could include:

Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties
Using sports and physical activities to build engagement and positive relationships
Encouraging teamwork, resilience, and self-belief
Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour positively
Working alongside teachers and specialist staff to support learning and wellbeing

Why sports coaches thrive in these roles

The best Learning Support Assistants aren't always those with classroom experience.

They're often the people who know how to:

✔ Build trust quickly
✔ Motivate young people who have disengaged
✔ Stay calm under pressure
✔ Set clear boundaries and expectations
✔ Celebrate progress, no matter how small

Sound familiar? Then this could be the perfect next step.

We're looking for people who have experience as:

  • Sports Coach
  • Football Coach
  • Rugby Coach
  • Personal Trainer
  • Sports Graduate
  • PE Coach
  • Youth Worker
  • Behaviour Mentor
  • Community Coach
