Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

We're looking for a compassionate, resilient and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school, supporting pupils who thrive with patience, consistency and positive relationships.

What you'll be doing

• Supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs throughout the school day.
• Building positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
• Adapting your approach to meet the needs of each individual, because no two days, or two students, are the same.
• Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging lessons and provide personalised support.
• Encouraging positive behaviour through consistency, empathy and clear boundaries.
• Supporting emotional regulation and celebrating every achievement, no matter how small.

We're looking for someone who

• Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEMH, SEND, youth work, residential care, sports coaching or mentoring.
• Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Can build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Understands that behaviour is communication and approaches every interaction with empathy.
• Is flexible, proactive and confident adapting to changing situations throughout the day.
• Has a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
