The right support can change a student's whole school experience. Could that be you?

We're looking for compassionate, resilient, and proactive Pastoral Behaviour Support staff to work across a range of educational settings, including mainstream schools, SEMH provisions, SEND schools, and alternative provisions.

This is a rewarding role for someone who can build strong relationships, stay calm under pressure, and help young people overcome barriers to learning. Every day brings new challenges, but also the opportunity to make a genuine difference in a student's life.

Whether you're supporting pupils to regulate their emotions, encouraging positive behaviour choices, or simply being a consistent and trusted adult, your impact will be felt far beyond the classroom.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing one-to-one and small group pastoral support
  • Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping pupils develop self-regulation strategies
  • Building trusted relationships with students who may have experienced challenges in education
  • Supporting attendance, engagement, and wellbeing initiatives
  • Working closely with teaching staff, SEND teams, safeguarding leads, and external agencies
  • Managing behaviour positively and consistently in line with school policies
  • Encouraging students to engage with learning and achieve their potential

What we're looking for

  • Experience working with children or young people in educational, youth work, care, coaching, or support settings
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Confidence supporting students with SEMH, SEND, or additional needs
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • The ability to remain professional and resilient in challenging situations
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience within SEMH schools, PRUs, alternative provisions, or SEND settings
  • Team Teach, Thrive, MAPA, or other behaviour support training
  • Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, or attachment needs
  • Youth work, mentoring, coaching, or safeguarding experience

Why work with Protocol Education?

  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella company faff
  • FREE access to our online CPD Academy
  • Personalised support from a dedicated consultant
  • Opportunities in mainstream, SEND, SEMH, and alternative provision settings
  • Streamlined registration and local placements
  • Referral scheme, earn rewards for recommending friends and colleagues
