Looking for a role where you can genuinely change how a child communicates with the world?

We’re working with welcoming SEND schools in Bath and Northeast somerset. They’ve built a dedicated resource base to support pupils with speech and language needs, and they’re now looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join the team.

This isn’t your typical TA role. You’ll be right at the heart of helping children find their voice, build confidence, and feel understood, whether that’s through words, gestures, or something in between.

What your days could look like:

You’ll be supporting pupils with speech and language delays in a calm, structured resource base, working both 1:1 and in small groups.

Think:

Helping children develop communication skills in ways that work for them

Supporting social interaction and emotional regulation

Delivering targeted interventions alongside experienced SEND staff

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and speech & language therapists

Creating a space where pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn

What we’re looking for:

You don’t need to tick every box, but if this sounds like you, we’d love to chat:

You’ve supported children with SEND or speech and language needs before, or you’re keen to learn

You’re patient, calm, and a natural communicator

You’re genuinely interested in how children develop language and confidence

You work well as part of a team and can follow structured approaches

You want to make a real difference, not just fill a role

Why this role stands out:

A chance to work in a specialist speech & language setting

Learn from experienced SEND staff and therapists

A supportive school where collaboration is the norm, not the exception

Strong potential to continue into the following academic year

Ideal experience if you’re thinking about teaching, SALT, psychology, or SEND careers

A quick heads up:

What you’ll get from us:

Free CPD and training to keep you growing

Ongoing support from a consultant who gets it

FREE Thrive training to build your confidence in SEND and behaviour support

(Not Thrive trained yet? No worries, we’ll get you sorted. It’s a brilliant tool to have in your kit and schools love it.)

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
