Teachers looking to get into SEN
You became a teacher to make a difference.
To help children grow in confidence. To unlock potential. To be the person who changes a young person's day, week, or even future.
That's exactly why so many teachers are finding their home in SEN education.
Whether you're an experienced classroom teacher, an ECT looking for a rewarding pathway, or simply ready for a new challenge, SEN schools offer something many educators are searching for: meaningful relationships, smaller class sizes, and the opportunity to make a truly life-changing impact.
Why make the move?
SEN education isn't about teaching differently. It's about teaching differently for every child.
You'll work with pupils who may have autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH needs, or other additional learning requirements. Every breakthrough matters, every achievement is celebrated, and no two days are ever the same.
What can you expect?
- Smaller classes and increased classroom support
- Opportunities to build strong relationships with pupils
- A creative and personalised approach to teaching
- Ongoing professional development and specialist training
- A supportive team environment where collaboration comes first
Is SEN education right for you?
You don't need years of specialist experience to get started.
Schools are often looking for qualified teachers who are:
- Patient and adaptable
- Relationship-focused
- Creative in their approach to learning
- Passionate about helping every child succeed
- Open to learning new strategies and approaches
If that sounds like you, SEN education could be the career move you've been looking for.
Why now?
Schools across the UK are looking for talented teachers who can bring energy, compassion and expertise into their SEN settings.
