We are working with a highly established Tier 1 main contractor that is expanding its commercial team across major Data Centre projects in the UK.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Contracts Surveyor to join a high-profile project, gain exposure to complex commercial packages and work alongside an experienced commercial and project delivery team.

The Opportunity - Assistant Contracts Surveyor
As an Assistant Contracts Surveyor, you'll support the commercial management of your allocated packages, working closely with Senior Surveyors, the wider commercial team, procurement and project delivery.
You'll gain hands-on exposure across the commercial lifecycle of a major Data Centre project, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as your experience develops.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the preparation of monthly valuations, applications for payment and cost reports
- Assisting with the commercial management of subcontractor and supplier accounts
- Supporting the preparation and agreement of subcontractor payments
- Assisting with procurement and the placement of subcontract packages
- Reviewing contract and subcontract documentation and highlighting potential commercial issues
- Supporting the management of variations, changes and additional works
- Assisting with forecasting, cost reporting and cash flow information
- Preparing quantity take-offs and measurements to support procurement and project requirements
- Assisting with interim and final account preparation
- Maintaining accurate records of project costs, changes and contractual events
- Working closely with the Procurement, Planning and Project Delivery teams
- Building strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Supporting Senior Surveyors with commercial reporting and project administration
- Taking on increased responsibility for individual packages as your experience develops

The project is generally site-based five days per week, with some flexibility depending on project requirements.
Key Success Factors – Assistant Contracts Surveyor
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience working within a Quantity Surveying / Commercial environment
- Previous experience with a main contractor would be advantageous
- Exposure to mission-critical, commercial, industrial or other complex construction projects
- Understanding of subcontractor accounts and commercial processes
- Experience assisting with valuations, variations, procurement or final accounts
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of your work
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Working towards a relevant Quantity Surveying / Commercial qualification would be advantageous
