About the Opportunity
Our client is a specialist project management consultancy delivering large-scale mission critical and hyperscale data centre developments across Europe. Following the award of several major projects in Germany, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to take a lead role in the delivery of a flagship data centre programme in Berlin.
This position offers the opportunity to work directly with a global end client, managing complex, fast-paced projects from construction through commissioning and handover.
The Role
As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of a multi-million-euro data centre project, leading the client interface while managing contractors, consultants and key stakeholders to ensure programme, budget, quality and safety targets are achieved.
You'll be expected to make commercial and technical decisions, drive project performance and mentor more junior project management staff as the programme progresses.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of hyperscale or mission critical construction projects valued in excess of €100m.
- Act as the primary client representative, managing relationships with contractors, consultants and key project stakeholders.
- Oversee project programme, cost, risk, quality and change management throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Ensure contractors are meeting contractual obligations, project milestones and quality standards.
- Manage project governance, reporting and senior stakeholder presentations.
- Chair progress meetings and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams across civil, structural, architectural and MEP disciplines.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimise programme or commercial impact.
- Support procurement, tender evaluations and contractor appointments where required.
- Work closely with commercial, commissioning and design teams to ensure a smooth transition through each project phase.
- Promote a strong culture of health, safety and continuous improvement across the project.
About You
- 10+ years' experience delivering complex construction or mission critical projects, with at least 5 years in a Senior Project Manager or equivalent leadership role.
- Demonstrable experience delivering large-scale data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing or other highly technical construction projects, with data centre experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC), client-side consultancy or developer environment.
- Proven ability to manage projects with values exceeding €100m through construction and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of NEC, FIDIC or equivalent forms of contract.
- Excellent knowledge of project controls, programme management, commercial management and risk mitigation.
- Experience managing Tier 1 contractors and multidisciplinary consultant teams.
- Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional membership such as APM, RICS, CIOB or PMI is advantageous.
