Water Estimator

Location: Bolton
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Package
Working Pattern: Hybrid (4 days office / 1 day home)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Water Estimator to join a growing team delivering essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a background in civil engineering, utilities, or the water sector to play a key role in securing and delivering major infrastructure schemes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of projects, including clean water and wastewater networks, pumping stations, treatment facilities, pipelines, and associated civil engineering works.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

• Review drawings, specifications, contract documents, and client requirements.

• Produce accurate take-offs and quantify materials, labour, plant, and subcontractor requirements.

• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.

• Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender stage.

• Develop pricing strategies to ensure commercially competitive submissions.

• Liaise with operational, engineering, commercial, and procurement teams throughout the bid process.

• Attend internal tender review meetings and contribute to bid presentations where required.

• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.

• Support handovers to delivery teams following successful contract awards.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an Estimator position within the water, utilities, or civil engineering sectors.

• Strong understanding of infrastructure and civil engineering construction methods.

• Experience pricing projects such as pipelines, pumping stations, treatment works, utilities, or related infrastructure schemes.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.

• Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

• Experience working on AMP frameworks or regulated water industry projects.

• Knowledge of NEC contracts.

• HNC/HND or Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
