The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Braintree on a full-time basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO, you will provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom, playing a key role in promoting pupil engagement, progress, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with a range of additional needs on a one-to-one and small-group basis, helping them remain engaged in learning and achieve individual targets. Foster positive relationships, encourage independence, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive classroom environment while working collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals.
About You
We are looking for a patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual with a genuine passion for supporting children. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to build positive relationships are essential.
Desirable Experience
Previous school-based experience is beneficial but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates who have gained transferable skills through work in nurseries, early years settings, youth clubs, sports coaching, holiday clubs, childcare settings, mentoring programmes, or volunteering with children and young people. Experience supporting individuals with additional needs would be highly advantageous.
What We Offer
In return, you will gain valuable experience within a supportive primary school, access to ongoing training and development opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the educational journey of young learners. This role is particularly suited to individuals considering a long-term career in education, psychology, or special educational needs.
