About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and committed PE Teacher to join a successful and inclusive secondary school in Brent. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students to develop a lifelong passion for physical activity, health, and wellbeing while delivering high-quality PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 where appropriate.
The successful candidate will be a motivated educator who can deliver engaging, inclusive, and challenging lessons that encourage students of all abilities to participate, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. You will contribute to the wider life of the school by supporting extracurricular clubs, fixtures, sports events, and whole-school initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality PE lessons that engage, motivate, and challenge students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate students' progress, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- Promote teamwork, resilience, leadership, respect, and sportsmanship through a broad and balanced PE curriculum.
- Teach a variety of sports and physical activities, ensuring lessons are safe, inclusive, and enjoyable.
- Organise and supervise practical activities while maintaining high standards of health and safety.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation from all students.
- Support students in developing healthy lifestyles, physical fitness, and positive attitudes towards exercise.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and behaviour records in line with school policies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop schemes of work, share best practice, and contribute to curriculum planning.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding students' progress, attendance, and wellbeing.
- Participate in parents' evenings, staff meetings, professional development, and whole-school events.
- Contribute to the school's extracurricular sports programme by running clubs, coaching teams, organising competitions, and accompanying students to fixtures and tournaments.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare of all students at all times.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related subject.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for physical education and sport.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities.
- Commitment to promoting equality, inclusion, and student wellbeing.
- A collaborative approach to working within a successful teaching team.
Desirable Experience
- Experience teaching PE in a UK secondary school.
- Ability to teach GCSE and/or A-Level Physical Education.
- Experience coaching school sports teams and leading extracurricular activities.
- Knowledge of current PE curriculum requirements and assessment frameworks.
- Experience supporting students with additional learning needs within practical lessons.
- First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
