We are looking for an experienced, resilient and compassionate Learning Partner to work full-time in a primary school in North Bristol, providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Key Stage 2 with complex behavioural needs.

This role requires someone who understands that behaviour is often a form of communication and can remain calm, consistent and emotionally regulated when situations become challenging.

The role

Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team, you will:

• Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child
• Use positive behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement and appropriate choices
• Recognise potential triggers and use effective de-escalation techniques to prevent situations from escalating
• Support the child with emotional regulation, communication and engagement with learning
• Maintain clear, consistent and appropriate boundaries
• Adapt your approach to meet the child's individual needs
• Help create a safe, predictable and supportive school experience

What we're looking for

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience supporting children or young people with complex or challenging behaviour and a good working knowledge of:

• De-escalation and regulation strategies
• Positive behaviour management
• Identifying triggers and responding proactively
• Remaining calm and consistent during incidents of challenging behaviour
• Building relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
• Supporting children with SEND, social, emotional or behavioural needs

Experience within SEND, education, behaviour support, youth work, mentoring, alternative provision or care would be particularly valuable.

You'll need to be patient, resilient, confident and empathetic, with the ability to look beyond the behaviour and understand what the child may be communicating.
