Learning Support Assistant – Bristol (BS16) | Full-Time | September Start

Primary SEN Experience Essential | KS2 | Long-Term to Permanent

Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant with a strong background supporting children with SEN in a primary school?

Protocol Education is looking for a dedicated and compassionate LSA to support a Key Stage 2 pupil in a primary school in BS16, Bristol, starting 1st September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN professional looking for a full-time, long-term position with the potential to become permanent with the school.

About the Role

You will provide dedicated support to a Year 3/4 pupil with complex additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and feel confident within the school environment.

The pupil has Autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), so previous direct experience supporting children with these needs would be highly desirable.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to the pupil throughout the school day.
  • Supporting access to the curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Using appropriate strategies to support Autism and PDA.
  • Helping the pupil manage emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement.
  • Building a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
  • Creating a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.

‍ Essential Requirements

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have experience working as an LSA/Teaching Assistant in a primary school.
  • Have strong SEN experience within a primary school setting – essential.
  • Have experience supporting children with complex needs.
  • Direct experience supporting Autism and PDA is highly desirable.
  • Have experience working with KS2 pupils, ideally Year 3/4.
  • Are patient, calm, resilient and compassionate.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can commit to the full-time role, Monday to Friday.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to apply.

Monday – Friday
8:40am – 3:10pm
