A vibrant and inclusive primary academy in North Bristol is seeking to appoint a committed Learning Support Assistant to join its Specialist Resource Base (SRB). This provision supports pupils with a wide range of complex learning needs within a nurturing environment that is closely connected to the wider mainstream school community.

The provision

The Specialist Resource Base supports a small number of pupils with additional and complex needs within a purposefully designed environment. The provision works closely with the mainstream school to ensure pupils feel included, supported and able to take part in the wider life of the school.

The team places the child at the centre of everything they do, providing bespoke support, carefully planned learning experiences and strong pastoral care so that every pupil can make meaningful progress.

The role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support pupils with additional needs, both individually and in small groups.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils with complex learning needs to access learning and develop independence

  • Delivering targeted support programmes under the direction of teaching staff

  • Helping to create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment

  • Supporting pupils’ communication, social development and emotional wellbeing

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external professionals

  • Occasionally supporting the delivery of planned learning activities with guidance from teaching staff

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent), or be working towards it

  • Have experience supporting children with SEND, either in mainstream or specialist provision

  • Bring energy, confidence and enthusiasm to the role

  • Be committed to inclusive education and ongoing professional development

  • Work effectively as part of a supportive and collaborative team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
