Helping a child learn to read is one of the most powerful things you can do in a classroom.

We’re working with a primary school in BS3 looking for a Teaching Assistant to support phonics and early reading development across KS1. This is a focused role where your support will have a direct and lasting impact.

What your day will involve:
You’ll run small phonics groups, support reading sessions, and work closely with the class teacher to reinforce learning. You’ll help children develop their confidence with sounds, blending, and early comprehension.

You’ll also support within the classroom, ensuring consistency between group work and whole-class teaching.

Progress in phonics isn’t always instant, but when it clicks, it really clicks, and you’ll be part of that journey.

The ideal candidate:
You’re patient, clear, and confident in your communication. You might already have phonics experience, or you’re keen to develop it quickly.

You enjoy working with younger children and understand the importance of building strong foundations early on.

You bring consistency, encouragement, and a calm approach to learning.
