Summary

A specialist construction contractor with a track record of delivering reliable, high-quality building solutions across the North West of England and Scottish Border is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to work in their civil engineering and construction division.

Based in Carlisle, Cumbria this is a key role in helping us to achieve the future growth plan for the division.

As a Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for;

-    Taking commercial ownership of smaller sized projects from pre-construction through to final account.
-    Assist Senior Quantity Surveyors for larger more complex schemes.
-    Prepare, review and manage budgets, cost plans, forecasts, valuations, variations and final accounts.
-    Monitor project costs, cashflow, value recovery and margin performance, identifying risks and opportunities at an early stage.
-    Complete accurate and timely cost value reconciliations and commercial reports for internal review.
-    Support procurement activity, subcontractor tender analysis, appointment recommendations and subcontract administration.
-    Manage subcontractor accounts, applications, payment notices, variations and final account agreements.
-    Review and understand contractual requirements, ensuring key obligations, notices and deadlines are managed effectively.
-    Identify, assess and track commercial risks, escalating significant matters to the Commercial Manager or senior management where required.
-    Manage variations, change control, compensation events or equivalent contract mechanisms in line with the relevant contract terms.
-    Maintain accurate commercial records, correspondence and supporting information to protect the company's position.
-    Support dispute avoidance through clear communication, good documentation and early resolution of commercial issues.
-    Support continuous improvement of commercial processes, templates and reporting standards.

For the right candidate this role has the potential to develop into a more senior role in the Group with further opportunity to develop with the Business.

Quantity Surveyor Specification

-    Strong experience in quantity surveying, commercial management or cost management within the construction industry.
-    Good working knowledge of construction contracts, subcontract administration, procurement, measurement, valuation and final accounts.
-    Ability to manage commercial matters independently while knowing when to escalate risk or seek support.
-    Experience supporting, mentoring or developing junior colleagues is desirable.
-    Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
-    Professional accreditation, or working towards professional accreditation, is desirable but not essential.
-    Confident user of Microsoft Office and relevant quantity surveying, measurement or document management systems.

Salary / Package

-    Competitive salary between £45,000 - £50,000
