Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – KS1 (1:1 ASD Support)

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming primary school in Chelmsford. This is a full-time, long-term position supporting a KS1 pupil on a 1:1 basis with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey, working closely with the class teacher and SEND team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with ASD
  • Assist with learning activities, helping to keep the child engaged and focused
  • Implement strategies to support communication, behaviour, and social development
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Help create a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and report on progress and wellbeing

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children with ASD (essential)
  • Experience working within a primary school setting, ideally KS1
  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
