Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering & Groundworks

An established and highly successful civil engineering and earthworks contractor is looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the South West and a substantial portfolio of repeat business, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business experiencing continued growth and long-term stability.
Working closely with the Commercial Manager, you will take commercial responsibility for a range of projects valued between £10,000 and £3 million, supporting both operational and commercial teams to ensure successful project delivery.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and agreeing applications for payment across multiple projects
- Producing weekly and monthly commercial reports, including cost value reconciliations, forecasts, budgets and cash flow reporting
- Managing the subcontract procurement process from enquiry through to final account
- Identifying, valuing and managing variations, compensation events, claims and early warning notices
- Cost capture, allocation, accruals and subcontract liability management
- Contract administration and commercial management throughout the project lifecycle
- Procuring materials and managing supplier quotations and orders
- Maintaining accurate project records and ensuring commercial documentation is submitted on time
- Providing contractual and commercial advice to operational teams
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors and site teams whilst attending project meetings as required
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and supporting project profitability
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
- HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- A minimum of 2 years' post-graduate Quantity Surveying experience
- Previous experience within civil engineering, groundworks, earthworks or infrastructure projects
- Strong commercial awareness and contract administration skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- A proactive and organised approach to workload management
