SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary School) – Darlington

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Darlington. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting students with special educational needs who is looking to make a real difference in a secondary education setting.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support students both inside and outside the classroom. You will play a key role in helping pupils with additional needs access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
- Assist students in managing their emotions and behaviours, helping to create a safe and positive learning environment.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
- Support teaching staff in delivering lessons and adapting learning materials where required.
- Promote student independence, confidence, and wellbeing throughout the school day.
- Assist with classroom management and contribute to a positive school culture.

- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in a school, care, youth work, or similar setting.
