We are working with an established international engineering contractor delivering major, technically complex projects across Europe, as they strengthen their EHS team for a significant project in Dresden, Germany.

This is an opportunity for an experienced EHS professional to take a leading, visible position on site, working closely with project leadership, site teams, specialist subcontractors and client representatives to drive safety performance across a major construction programme.

The role offers the opportunity to operate within a high-value M&E environment, taking ownership of the project EHS programme while having genuine influence over how safety is planned, managed and delivered on site.

You will sit closely with the Project Manager and wider EHS leadership, acting as both a credible compliance lead and practical safety partner to the delivery team. The focus is on creating a proactive safety culture, identifying risk early and ensuring robust systems are embedded throughout the project.

This opportunity is offered on rotation 10/4, with flights and accomodation provided. Due to mobilisation requirements, applications must hold a valid EU passport, or PR in Germany. 

Responsibilities - Environmental Health & Safety Lead

• Take ownership of the project EHS programme and implementation of the EHS management system
• Drive a strong, proactive safety culture across the project
• Lead site inspections, audits, compliance reviews and risk management activities
• Review RAMS, method statements, SOPs and project-specific risk assessments
• Coordinate EHS requirements across project teams, contractors and subcontractors
• Develop and maintain project HSE plans, safety files and supporting documentation
• Lead EHS coordination meetings and work closely with project leadership
• Support incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Monitor training, competency and wider site compliance requirements
• Track EHS performance, findings and close-out actions through relevant digital platforms
• Prepare EHS reporting and support project KPI requirements
• Work closely with client representatives and wider project stakeholders
• Provide practical safety guidance and challenge unsafe behaviours where required
• Represent the business professionally during audits, inspections and client engagements

Skills and Experience - Environmental Health & Safety Lead

• Experience within an HSE, EHS, Health & Safety or Safety Lead position
• Strong background within construction and site-based project delivery
• Experience working within M&E, MEP, building services or Data Centre environments highly advantageous
• Strong understanding of construction health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements
• Experience with site audits, inspections, risk reviews and RAMS
• Relevant third-level qualification in Environmental Health & Safety or a related discipline
• IOSH or equivalent EHS accreditation
• Experience working with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
• Strong contractor and subcontractor HSE management experience
• Confident working with project teams, senior stakeholders and client representatives
• Experience with digital construction/EHS platforms such as Procore, EIDA, Kianda or similar
• Fluent English language skills
• Full clean driving licence
• Ability to work full-time on site in Dresden, Germany

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience on construction projects in Germany or mainland Europe
• German language skills
• Data Centre or mission-critical experience
• M&E / MEP / building services experience
• Experience working with international and multicultural project teams
• Strong understanding of German or wider European construction safety requirements
• Experience supporting large-scale, fast-paced construction programmes

This role would suit an experienced EHS Lead, HSE Lead, EHS Manager, HSE Manager, Health & Safety Manager or Senior HSE Advisor with a strong construction background and the confidence to operate as the senior EHS presence on a major project.

The successful candidate will be visible, credible and practical, with the ability to work alongside delivery teams, challenge unsafe behaviours and translate EHS requirements into effective site-based solutions.
