We are working with a established Tier 1 main contractor that is expanding its delivery team across major Data Centre projects in the UK.

They are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join a high-profile hyperscale Data Centre project, taking responsibility for the construction delivery and working alongside an experienced project leadership team.

The Opportunity - Construction Manager

As Construction Manager, you'll take a leading role in the delivery of the project on site, coordinating construction activities and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme, quality and project requirements.

You'll work closely with the Project Manager, Site Management, Engineering, Commercial and Planning teams, as well as subcontractors and client representatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking responsibility for day-to-day construction delivery across your allocated areas
  • Managing and coordinating subcontractors to ensure works are delivered to programme
  • Leading site teams and coordinating supervisors, engineers and specialist contractors
  • Monitoring progress against the construction programme and identifying potential delays
  • Working closely with the Planning team to maintain programme performance
  • Coordinating construction activities across multiple disciplines and work packages
  • Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements
  • Working closely with the engineering team to resolve technical and construction-related issues
  • Monitoring quality of installation and ensuring works meet required standards
  • Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Coordinating site logistics, access, sequencing and construction activities
  • Attending site meetings and providing regular progress updates to the wider project team
  • Building effective relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and client representatives
  • Identifying potential delivery risks and implementing appropriate solutions
  • Supporting the Project Manager with planning, resource management and overall project delivery
  • Ensuring construction activities are properly coordinated ahead of key project milestones
  • Leading by example and maintaining high standards across the site team

The project is generally site-based five days per week, with some flexibility depending on project requirements.

Key Success Factors - Construction Manager

We're looking for an experienced construction professional with a strong background in large-scale building projects and proven responsibility for site delivery.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Significant experience in a Construction Manager / Senior Site Management position
  • Strong Data Centre experience, ideally with a main contractor
  • Experience delivering complex construction projects
  • Proven experience managing subcontractors and site teams
  • Strong understanding of construction programmes and sequencing
  • Experience coordinating multiple trades and work packages
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and quality requirements
  • Experience working closely with engineering, commercial and planning teams
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership ability
  • Strong problem-solving and decision making skills

We're particularly interested in Construction Managers who have delivered hyperscale or mission-critical projects and understand the level of coordination, programme pressure and quality expected within the sector.

Candidates with strong experience across other mission critical environments, such as healthcare, pharmaceutical or life sciences, may also be considered where they can demonstrate comparable project complexity and delivery responsibility.
