Our client is a fast-growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering complex energy infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Working across grid infrastructure, renewable energy, data centres and industrial developments, they provide specialist engineering expertise from concept design through to project delivery. Continued investment in their Energy Infrastructure division has created an opportunity for an experienced Senior High Voltage Engineer to help expand their in-house HV capability.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative consultancy where you'll work on major energy infrastructure projects while helping shape the future direction of the High Voltage engineering team.

About the Role

As a Senior High Voltage Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of HV and MV infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Working within a multidisciplinary consultancy, you will provide technical leadership on projects including substations, grid connections, interconnectors and energy centres. You'll work closely with clients, utilities, contractors and internal engineering teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions from concept through to commissioning.

Alongside project delivery, you will help develop technical standards, mentor engineers and support the continued growth of the company's High Voltage Engineering capability.

The key responsibilities for this Senior High Voltage Engineer role are:

- Lead the design and delivery of HV and MV infrastructure projects

- Deliver substation designs including AIS and GIS installations up to 400kV

- Design and review single line diagrams, substation layouts and HV cable systems

- Develop protection and control philosophies, earthing and lightning protection designs

- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across complex energy projects

- Manage technical interfaces with utilities, TSOs, DSOs, clients and contractors

- Support grid connection applications and utility approval processes

- Review technical studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination and power quality assessments

- Support tender submissions, technical bid reviews and project planning activities

- Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth of the High Voltage engineering team

Experience required for this Senior High Voltage Engineer role are:

- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

- Typically 8+ years' experience delivering High Voltage infrastructure projects

- Strong experience designing HV substations, grid connections and energy infrastructure

- Knowledge of AIS and GIS substations up to 400kV

- Strong understanding of primary and secondary substation systems

- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams

- Excellent communication and client management skills

- Experience working within consultancy, utilities or energy infrastructure environments

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Senior High Voltage Engineer role are:

- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership

- Experience using ETAP, PowerFactory, AutoCAD or PSCAD

- Knowledge of IEC, BS, EN and Irish Standards

- Experience delivering renewable energy or data centre projects

- Understanding of utility and grid connection requirements across Ireland and the UK
