Senior Mechanical Engineer (Energy & Industrial)

Location: Ireland (Hybrid – Dublin office)

We’re partnering with a well-established and growing multidisciplinary building services consultancy that is delivering complex projects across the industrial, life sciences and commercial sectors.

Due to continued growth, they’re now looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in leading mechanical building services design across a diverse and technically challenging project portfolio.

This position offers the opportunity to take full ownership of design delivery, work closely with clients, and contribute to high-specification projects including cleanrooms, laboratories and regulated environments.

The Role

  • As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll lead the delivery of mechanical building services design across projects from concept through to completion.

  • Working within a collaborative consultancy environment, you’ll coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality, compliant, and efficient building services solutions.

  • You’ll also play a key role in mentoring engineers and supporting the continued development of technical standards within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical building services design across industrial, life sciences and commercial projects

  • Deliver HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and utilities systems from concept through to handover

  • Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical and process teams

  • Develop solutions for regulated environments including cleanrooms, laboratories and ATEX-classified spaces

  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS, EN) and project specifications

  • Prepare detailed design packages, technical reports and tender documentation

  • Support procurement, contractor coordination and construction phases through site visits and technical input

  • Take ownership of project delivery, ensuring quality, programme and client expectations are met

  • Mentor and review the work of junior and intermediate engineers

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders

Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline

  • 7+ years’ experience in mechanical building services / MEP design within a consultancy environment

  • Strong experience delivering HVAC and building services systems for industrial or commercial projects

  • Exposure to regulated environments such as life sciences, pharmaceutical, laboratories or cleanrooms

  • Understanding of relevant industry standards (CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, EN)

  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams

  • Strong client-facing and communication skills

  • Chartered Engineer status is advantageous but not essential

  • Must be based in Ireland with flexibility for occasional European travel

This is a great opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer looking to step into a role with real ownership and technical influence.

You’ll be joining a collaborative consultancy environment with a strong pipeline of complex projects, where you can play a key role in shaping both project delivery and team development.
