About the Role
Esh Civils delivers infrastructure schemes of all sizes, from local improvements to major capital projects. Working in partnership with local authorities across the North East, Tees Valley, Yorkshire and the Humber, we deliver a diverse range of civil engineering projects including public realm, highways, flood alleviation, active travel and bridge works.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide expert commercial and financial management across a range of civil engineering projects. This is a key role responsible for ensuring accurate measurement, valuation, forecasting and cash flow management, helping to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit interim payment applications and final accounts.
- Manage project cash flow, financial reporting and forecasting.
- Work with NEC3 and NEC4 forms of contract.
- Issue Early Warning Notices and support risk management.
- Prepare and submit Compensation Events and associated quotations.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive site records are maintained.
- Attend client and stakeholder meetings as required.
- Produce commercial reports in line with company reporting requirements.
- Procure and manage subcontractors.
- Review, certify and approve subcontractor payments.
- Support and mentor Quantity Surveyors within the commercial team.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes.
- Undertake additional duties as reasonably required.
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum of 10 years' experience within a commercial role in civil engineering or construction.
- Proven experience managing the commercial aspects of infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
- Experience preparing interim applications, final accounts and compensation events.
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge.
- Experience producing financial forecasts and commercial reports.
- Competent in construction processes and procedures.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working under a variety of contract frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Previous experience mentoring or managing junior commercial staff.
