Teach South Kent is working in partnership with a secondary school in East Sussex to recruit a PA Technician / Music Teaching Assistant to join their music department. This role offers the opportunity to secure a permanent position with the school for the right candidate, following a successful period of work.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for music, education and supporting young people to play a key role in helping students develop their skills, confidence and enthusiasm for the subject.
The successful candidate will provide a combination of classroom, technical and administrative support, working closely with the Music Department to ensure students can fully access the curriculum and make excellent progress.
The Role
You will provide targeted support to students during music lessons, including students with SEND, helping to remove barriers to learning and ensuring all students are able to participate and achieve.
You will also provide technical support across the music department, supporting lessons, rehearsals, performances and events, as well as helping to maintain and organise music and theatre equipment.

You will ideally have good subject knowledge and practical experience with music equipment, IT, AV or sound technology. You should be confident working alongside students and staff and able to adapt your approach to support a range of abilities and needs.
This would suit someone with experience in a school or education setting, a music graduate, musician, technician or someone with relevant practical experience who is looking to develop their career within education.

- Supporting the inclusion of all students within the classroom and helping to remove barriers to learning.
- Using your subject knowledge and enthusiasm for music to support the delivery of the curriculum.
- Providing technical support for music lessons, including IT and software, instruments, recording equipment and AV resources.
- Setting up and maintaining equipment and resources for lessons, rehearsals and performances.
- Supporting extracurricular music activities and peripatetic instrumental lessons.
- Assisting with the organisation of peripatetic lessons, including student lists, timetables, rooms and equipment.
- Maintaining inventories and supporting the repair and maintenance of music and theatre equipment.
- Assisting with equipment orders and ensuring resources are organised and ready for use.
- Providing technical support across the wider Arts Faculty when required.
- Supporting assemblies, school events, concerts and performances, including setting up and operating AV and sound equipment.
- Providing sound and technical support for performances and concerts.
- Carrying out administrative duties within the department as required.
- Promoting good student engagement and attendance.
- Working in line with the school's safeguarding procedures and Keeping Children Safe in Education requirements.
