Pastoral SEND Learning Mentor – Ferryhill (Full-Time)

Support, encourage and inspire young people to believe in themselves.

Protocol Education is looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Mentor to join a welcoming specialist school in Ferryhill.

The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

You'll provide consistent pastoral and learning support, helping pupils manage challenges, build positive relationships and develop the confidence they need to succeed.

Your responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Providing pastoral and emotional support
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
  • Developing trusting relationships with pupils
  • Helping pupils manage barriers to learning
  • Supporting social and emotional development
  • Encouraging independence and self-confidence
  • Working closely with teaching staff
  • Contributing towards individual pupil targets
  • Recognising and celebrating achievements

The ideal candidate

We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience as:

  • SEND Teaching Assistants
  • Learning Mentors
  • Behaviour Mentors
  • Youth Workers
  • Support Workers
  • Care Professionals
  • Psychology Graduates

You'll need to be calm, patient and consistent, with the ability to build strong relationships with young people who may require additional support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
