A specialist PRU/SEND school in Ferryhill is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work closely with pupils who need additional support to access education.
The role is ideal for someone who is resilient, adaptable and passionate about working with young people, particularly those who may struggle with behaviour, emotional regulation or engagement in the classroom.
Location: Ferryhill
Pay: £92.63–£102 per day
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term
Your role will involve
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
- Helping pupils regulate their emotions
- Supporting classroom learning and activities
- Building positive relationships with pupils
- Providing reassurance and consistency
- Working closely with teaching staff
- Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
What we're looking for
You don't necessarily need to have worked in a PRU before. We're interested in people with experience in roles such as:
Teaching Assistant | Youth Worker | Support Worker | Care Worker | Behaviour Mentor | Psychology Graduate | Aspiring Teacher
Most importantly, you'll need to be resilient and emotionally consistent. Some days may be challenging, so you'll need to remain patient, professional and positive.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
