SEND Support Assistant – Ferryhill

A specialist SEND/PRU setting in Ferryhill is looking for a resilient and dedicated SEND Support Assistant to join their team and support pupils who may experience significant barriers to learning.

This is a rewarding role for someone who understands that progress isn't always immediate and is willing to build positive relationships, remain patient and provide consistent support when pupils are struggling.

Location: Ferryhill
Pay: £92.63–£102 per day
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term

What you'll be doing

• Supporting pupils with a range of SEND and additional needs
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping pupils re-engage with learning
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Building trusting and consistent relationships
• Encouraging communication, confidence and independence
• Working closely with teachers and the wider support team
• Helping create a calm, structured learning environment

Who we're looking for

Experience working with children or young people is beneficial, particularly within:

• SEND or PRU settings
• Behaviour support
• Teaching Assistant roles
• Youth work
• Support work or care
• Psychology, Sociology or Criminology graduates
• Aspiring teachers

Resilience is essential. You will need to remain calm under pressure, be patient and consistent, and understand that every pupil will respond differently to support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
