Are you a graduate looking to build experience working with children before pursuing a career in education, psychology or mental health?

We're working with a welcoming primary school in Bromley Heath looking for a Graduate Behaviour Mentor to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with an autism profile.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates interested in teaching, educational psychology, child psychology, speech and language therapy, social work or youth work. You'll gain hands-on experience supporting a child to develop confidence, emotional regulation and positive engagement with learning, while working alongside an experienced SEN team.

The role

As a Graduate Behaviour Mentor, you'll work closely with one pupil throughout the school day, providing consistent support both in and out of the classroom. You'll help them manage emotions, develop positive relationships and access learning in a way that meets their individual needs.

You'll also support small group interventions and work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised strategies that encourage progress and independence.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a degree in Psychology, Criminology, Education, Childhood Studies or a related subject, although graduates from all disciplines are welcome
  • Has an interest in behaviour support, SEND or child development
  • Is calm, patient and resilient
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with children
  • Has excellent communication skills and a proactive approach
  • Has experience working with children or young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, volunteering or care, although this isn't essential

What you'll receive

  • Pay from £14.25 per hour, with increases based on experience
  • Weekly PAYE pay
  • Access to specialist SEND, behaviour management and CPD training
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Protocol Education consultant
  • Excellent experience for graduates considering teacher training or postgraduate study
  • Opportunities to progress into long-term and permanent school-based roles

Requirements

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Two years of satisfactory references
  • Right to work in the UK
