EHS Manager – Data Centre Project
Our client, delivering the mechanical package on a 27MW hyperscale data centre approximately 25 minutes from Frankfurt airport, is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead site-based EHS delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on-site implementation of the company's EHS management systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental legislation, client requirements and internal standards.
- Build and maintain a strong, proactive safety culture across the project.
- Support PSCS duties, where applicable.
- Develop, maintain and manage project-specific safety plans, safety files and EHS documentation.
- Lead and attend project EHS coordination meetings.
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance checks.
- Review and support sign-off of RAMS, SOPs, project execution plans and dynamic risk assessments.
- Track training compliance, including Safe Pass, CSCS and other project- or country-specific requirements.
- Coordinate and monitor safety arrangements across the workforce, subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Support incident investigations, lessons-learned reviews and close-out of corrective actions.
- Ensure audit and inspection findings are logged, assigned and closed via the relevant digital platform.
- Prepare EHS reports and support KPI tracking.
- Work closely with project teams, management, subcontractors and client representatives.
- Support wellbeing and wider EHS initiatives across the project.
- Represent the business professionally during audits, inspections and client engagements.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and practical safety solutions on site.
- Ensure project EHS training needs are identified and supported.
- Work with the wider EHS function to maintain consistent standards across projects.
Requirements
We're looking for an experienced EHS professional with a strong construction safety background and the ability to influence safe behaviours on site. You should have:
- 6+ years' experience in a comparable EHS, HSE, Health & Safety or Safety Lead role.
- A background within the construction industry.
- Experience in site-based, project delivery environments.
- A recognised third-level qualification in Environmental Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Relevant EHS accreditation, such as IOSH or equivalent.
- Solid knowledge of construction safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Experience carrying out site audits, inspections and risk reviews.
- Experience reviewing RAMS, method statements, SOPs, project execution plans and risk assessments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- Experience with digital construction/EHS platforms such as Procore, EIDA, Kianda or similar.
- Fluent English.
- A full, clean driving licence.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Previous experience on construction projects in mainland Europe.
- Background in M&E, MEP, building services or data centre construction.
- Experience working with international project teams.
- Experience supporting contractor and subcontractor safety management.
- Knowledge of European construction safety requirements.
- Experience on large-scale, fast-paced construction projects.
