Location: Munich, Germany
Contract: 8-Month Contract
Project: Data Centre Construction

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading Data Centre construction project in Munich, Germany on an initial 8-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile project, working within a fast-paced construction environment where safety is at the forefront of project delivery. You will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance are maintained throughout all phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) management systems across all stages of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with company Safety Management Systems and all relevant German and European EHS legislation.
  • Coordinate the preparation and review of method statements, risk assessments, safe systems of work, and permit-to-work processes.
  • Monitor project safety performance, report on key safety metrics, and promote a strong safety culture on site.
  • Carry out COSHH assessments and ensure the safe management of hazardous substances.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, documenting findings and driving corrective and preventative actions.
  • Attend site meetings, providing professional EHS guidance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Advise project management teams, supervisors, safety representatives, and subcontractors on all health and safety matters.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to statutory inspections of plant, equipment, lifting gear, and site activities.
  • Coordinate site inductions, safety training, and ensure appropriate PPE is available and correctly used.
  • Organise and deliver toolbox talks and assist with incident investigations, reporting, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ensure welfare facilities and site hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
  • Support environmental initiatives including waste management, recycling, and sustainability objectives.

Essential Requirements

  • Third-level qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' site-based Health & Safety experience within construction, engineering, or industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of current EHS legislation, regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and proactively resolve EHS issues.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of working in a dynamic project environment.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working on Data Centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or other mission-critical construction projects.
  • Experience working with principal contractors on large-scale construction projects.
  • Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and high-risk construction activities.
  • Knowledge of German construction safety regulations is advantageous.
