

Unqualified Teaching Assistant

We're working with a friendly primary school in the Frenchay area that's looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with an autism profile.
You don't need a Teaching Assistant qualification for this role. If you're patient, willing to learn and passionate about helping children reach their potential, we'd love to hear from you. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on classroom experience while receiving ongoing training and support.
Your role will include:
- Supporting one child throughout the school day, helping them access learning and classroom activities
- Encouraging confidence, independence and positive social interactions
- Helping the pupil stay focused and engaged with learning
- Supporting emotional regulation using strategies provided by the school
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Assisting with small group activities when appropriate
This role could be perfect if you have:
- A genuine interest in working with children
- A calm, patient and positive approach
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to stay consistent and encouraging, even on challenging days
- Experience working with children or young people in any setting, such as coaching, youth work, childcare, care work or volunteering, is helpful but not essential

Requirements:
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Two years of satisfactory references
- Right to work in the UK
This is a long-term role supporting a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), subject to review.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
