Help a Young Child Build Confidence, Independence and Positive Relationships
A supportive primary school in Gateshead is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to work with a Year 1 pupil who requires additional support with behaviour and emotional regulation.
This could be an excellent opportunity for a graduate interested in Psychology, Child Development, Education or SEND to gain practical experience within a nurturing school environment.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll become an important part of the pupil's school day, helping them access learning and feel confident within the classroom.
You'll support with:
- 1:1 classroom support
- Engagement with learning activities
- Positive behaviour strategies
- Emotional regulation
- Social development
- Building confidence and independence
- Positive communication
- Developing a trusting relationship with the pupil
You'll also work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to ensure consistent support.

Graduates in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies or related subjects are encouraged to apply.
