Dedicated SEND Support Role

British Sign Language Teaching Assistant – Gateshead

Protocol Education is seeking a committed and enthusiastic British Sign Language Teaching Assistant to work within a school in Gateshead from September.

The role involves supporting pupils with hearing impairments and additional communication needs, helping them access learning and participate confidently in school life.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing daily BSL support to pupils
  • Assisting with classroom learning and activities
  • Supporting communication and language development
  • Encouraging confidence, independence and inclusion
  • Working alongside teachers and support staff
  • Contributing to pupil progress and wellbeing

Successful Applicants Will Have:

  • A recognised BSL Level 2 qualification
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience within education, care or youth settings (desirable)
  • A compassionate and proactive nature
  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
