British Sign Language Teaching Assistant – Gateshead
Protocol Education is seeking a committed and enthusiastic British Sign Language Teaching Assistant to work within a school in Gateshead from September.
The role involves supporting pupils with hearing impairments and additional communication needs, helping them access learning and participate confidently in school life.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing daily BSL support to pupils
- Assisting with classroom learning and activities
- Supporting communication and language development
- Encouraging confidence, independence and inclusion
- Working alongside teachers and support staff
- Contributing to pupil progress and wellbeing
Successful Applicants Will Have:
- A recognised BSL Level 2 qualification
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience within education, care or youth settings (desirable)
- A compassionate and proactive nature
- A full UK driving licence and access to transport

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
