Working Hours: Monday to Friday, school hours
Pay: £100–£125 per day, depending on experience

Protocol Education are recruiting for a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEND setting in Gateshead.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA or support worker who wants to develop their experience working with pupils who have more complex learning, communication and care needs.

You will work as part of a specialist team and provide highly personalised support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils with complex SEND
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supporting communication and interaction
  • Helping pupils access learning activities
  • Encouraging independence and life skills
  • Supporting sensory regulation
  • Following individual care and support plans
  • Promoting positive behaviour
  • Supporting pupils during transitions
  • Helping pupils participate in practical activities
  • Supporting personal development
  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals

Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex needs would be highly beneficial.

Experience in SEND schools, care, residential support, healthcare or similar settings would also be considered.

The successful candidate will be patient, observant and confident adapting their approach to meet individual needs.

Essential driving requirement

Due to the location of the setting, you must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
