Pay: £130–£250 per day, dependent on experience

Protocol Education are recruiting for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Gateshead, supporting children and young people with physical and/or medical needs.

This is a varied opportunity for an experienced TA who wants to develop their knowledge of specialist support, assistive technology and accessible learning.

You'll work alongside specialist teachers and other professionals to help pupils overcome barriers and become as independent as possible.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support based on pupil needs.
  • Adapt lessons, activities and resources.
  • Support pupils with physical and medical needs.
  • Use assistive technology and specialist equipment.
  • Help pupils access the curriculum through alternative methods.
  • Support communication and independence.
  • Set up and safely manage specialist equipment.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals.
  • Follow individual support and safety plans.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience supporting physical and/or medical needs is desirable.
  • Confidence using ICT and willingness to learn specialist technology.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to work across different environments.
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle – essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
