Protocol Education are recruiting for an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Gateshead provision supporting pupils with physical and medical needs.

This is a varied role combining classroom support with specialist equipment, assistive technology and accessible learning. You'll work as part of a wider team to help pupils participate fully in school life and develop greater independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support to pupils with physical and medical needs.
• Support learning and adapt activities to individual requirements.
• Promote independence and confidence.
• Help pupils use assistive technology.
• Set up and check specialist equipment.
• Support accessible ICT and communication technology.
• Use alternative communication methods where required.
• Resolve basic equipment issues where possible.
• Support safe movement, positioning and physical access.
• Follow individual health and support plans.
• Work alongside specialist teachers and other professionals.
• Monitor progress and share observations.
• Support colleagues with inclusive practice and equipment.

Essential Requirements

• Level 3 TA qualification or equivalent.
• Experience working within SEND or specialist education.
• Experience supporting pupils with physical and/or medical needs.
• Good ICT skills.
• Confidence learning new technology and equipment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work flexibly across different settings.
• Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
