Are you a Psychology graduate looking for practical experience before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Teaching or SEND?

Protocol Education is working with a school in Gateshead seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil throughout the school day.

This is a hands-on opportunity to develop your understanding of child development, behaviour, communication and individual needs while making a meaningful difference to a young person's education.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work closely with one pupil to:

• Support access to classroom learning
• Build trust and a positive professional relationship
• Encourage communication and interaction
• Support emotional regulation
• Promote positive behaviour
• Develop confidence and independence
• Adapt activities to suit individual needs
• Provide consistent encouragement and reassurance
• Share observations and progress with the wider team

You'll work alongside the class teacher and other school staff to ensure the pupil receives consistent support.

Your Psychology Knowledge Will Be Valuable

Your understanding of behaviour, development, communication and individual differences can provide a strong foundation for working in a SEND environment.
