Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding SEND role in Gateshead?
Protocol Education are working with a specialist SEND setting in Gateshead that is looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.
You will be supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and feel confident within their school environment.
This is a hands-on role where building strong relationships with pupils will be just as important as supporting their academic development.
The role will involve:
- Supporting pupils with a range of SEND
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Helping pupils access classroom activities
- Supporting communication and interaction
- Encouraging independence and life skills
- Supporting emotional regulation
- Promoting positive behaviour
- Helping pupils develop confidence and self-esteem
- Supporting transitions throughout the school day
- Working closely with teachers and other support staff
- Following individual pupil support plans
- Supporting pupils during lessons, break and lunchtime
The pupils may have needs including autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, SEMH and complex SEND.

Previous SEND experience is highly desirable, particularly experience within a specialist school, care setting or similar environment.
Essential requirement – driving
Due to the location of the setting, you must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own car. This is essential for the role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
