Are you a Speech & Language graduate passionate about helping children find their voice and develop their communication skills?
A specialist SEND school in Gateshead is looking for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.
This role would suit a graduate considering a future career in Speech and Language Therapy, education, psychology, SEND or related fields.
Your Role
You will provide day-to-day support to pupils who may have a range of communication and additional needs.
You could be:
- Supporting speech, language and communication development
- Encouraging pupils to communicate and interact
- Delivering structured activities
- Using visual timetables and communication resources
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting pupils with autism and complex needs
- Helping pupils access classroom learning
- Working closely with teachers and other professionals
What You Need
- A relevant Speech & Language or communication-based degree
- A passion for working with children
- Strong communication skills
- A calm and patient approach
- The ability to build trusting relationships
- SEND experience is beneficial but not essential
You'll gain valuable experience in a specialist setting while developing your understanding of communication, SEND and child development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
