Speech & Language Support Professional – Gateshead
Could You Help a Child Find Their Voice?
A specialist SEND school in Gateshead is looking for a passionate Speech & Language Support professional to join their supportive team.
You'll work directly with pupils who experience communication and language difficulties, helping them develop their confidence, understanding and ability to communicate with others.
Location: Gateshead
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday–Friday
Start Date: ASAP
Your Day-to-Day Role
You'll provide individualised support tailored to each pupil's communication needs.
This could include:
- 1:1 Speech & Language support
- Small-group communication activities
- Vocabulary development
- Supporting comprehension
- Encouraging expressive language
- Developing social communication
- Supporting interaction with peers
- Helping pupils communicate their needs
- Using visual and structured communication strategies
- Supporting pupils within lessons
- Working collaboratively with teachers and SEND staff
Who You'll Be Supporting
The school supports pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism, complex SEND, communication difficulties and learning needs.
Every pupil is different, so you'll need to be adaptable and willing to tailor your approach.

- Speech & Language graduate
- Communication graduate
- Speech & Language Therapy Assistant
- Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant
- Education professional with strong communication experience
- Aspiring Speech & Language Therapist
You'll need to be patient, proactive, compassionate and confident building relationships with children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
