Summary
A Principal Contractor and the leading provider of electrical solutions for rail infrastructure, specialising in Overhead Catenary System (OCS) and High Voltage Traction and Non-Traction Power Supply (HV) is looking to hire an experienced Commercial Manager to join their team in Glasgow, managing various upgrade and enhancement projects across Scotland.
As a Commercial Manager you will be involved in
- Assessing contract conditions and minimising risk to the business
- Overseeing the timely submission of monthly applications to clients & ensure cashflow stability for the region.
- Liaising with clients and ensure cash income
- Ensuring all projects are delivered in accordance with the contract
- Assessing contract programmes and minimise risk and liability
- Providing accurate cost advice and financial reporting to the client
- Compiling and agree final accounts with client
- Controlling sub-contractors and contract conditions of contract
- Liaise with clients to minimise and reduce risk of the business.
- The management of Commercial Team
- Attending client meetings
- Contractual and Commercial correspondence
To be suitable for the Commercial Manager role you will:
- Have experience in a previous role in a similar level of position.
- Have a good understanding of works measurement and valuation including the cost and value reconciliation of contractor and/or subcontractor accounts preferably within a rail overhead line environment.
- Be capable of running several jobs with minimal supervision
- Be degree qualified with BSc Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Have a good understanding of contract document preparation, contract management processes and procedures
- Have the ability to work individually or as a member of a team in a collaborative environment.
- Have the ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing .
- Have a broad experience of all aspects of commercial management and contract administration on a diverse range of construction contracts from inception to completion.
- Experience of assisting in the handling of claims and disputes
- Have a working knowledge of procurement techniques and contract forms.
- Have an understanding of commercial and financial reporting within a project, programme or portfolio environment
- Have a strong and detailed quantity surveying knowledge base throughout all pre and post construction phases
- Valid driving licence and vehicle and ability to travel as required.
Salary / Package
Circa: £70,000 - £75.000 DOE plus package including a car/allowance of £5,400
