Summary
A Principal Contractor and the leading provider of electrical solutions for rail infrastructure, specialising in Overhead Catenary System (OCS) and High Voltage Traction and Non-Traction Power Supply (HV) is looking to hire an experienced Project Manager to join their team in Glasgow manage various upgrade and enhancement projects across Scotland.
As a Project Manager you will be involved with:
Project Delivery
- Managing assigned OLE and P&D works through design, construction, testing, and handback.
- Ensuring works comply with Network Rail standards, GRIP/PACE lifecycle requirements, and contractor procedures.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary inputs (Civils, Signalling, Track, SCADA & Telecoms) to support integrated project delivery.
- Providing out of hours/emergency support on projects as required by the client and Directors
Safety & Compliance
- Promoting a culture of safety in line with Network Rail's Lifesaving Rules and company policies.
- Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Supporting the Senior Project Manager in maintaining a robust Safety Management System.
- Undertaking periodic site audits and safety inspections when are engaged on site duties
Programme & Resource Management
- Developing and maintain project plans in collaboration with the planning team.
- Ensuring works are resourced effectively with labour, plant, and materials.
- Managing delivery within possessions, blockades, and operational railway constraints.
Commercial & Cost Control
- Supporting the Senior Project Manager and commercial team with cost forecasting, variations, and change control.
- Monitoring subcontractor performance and certify completed works.
- Procurement and management of subcontracted work packages.
- Ensuring accurate project records and reporting are maintained.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Acting as day-to-day point of contact for Network Rail's project representatives on allocated packages.
- Attending progress meetings, report on performance, and escalate issues to the Senior Project Manager.
- Fostering positive working relationships with designers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Team Coordination & Leadership
- Supervising site managers, engineers, and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
- Providing technical and managerial support to project teams.
- Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
To be considered for this Project Manager Role you will have:
- Proven experience delivering works, ideally within the UK rail industry or comparable infrastructure sectors.
- Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Good commercial awareness, with exposure to NEC or similar contract frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
Desirable Qualifications / Competencies
- Degree/HND in Engineering, Construction, or related discipline.
- PTS (Personal Track Safety) competence.
- Working knowledge of electrification and distribution systems.
- Familiarity with Network Rail standards, processes, and assurance requirements.
- Experience working within live operational environments (e.g. possessions, blockades, or similar controlled access settings).
- Previous experience with Network Rail frameworks or alliances in Scotland.
Salary / Package
Circa: £65,000 - £68.000 DOE plus package including a car/allowance of £5,400
