Overview

We are seeking an experienced MEP Project Director to lead the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, including Field Assembly Integration (FAI), on a large-scale data centre project.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all MEP and FAI project activities from design through to commissioning and handover.
• Define and implement the MEP delivery strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall project programme and milestones.
• Lead and manage senior project managers, package leads, and multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, and public health scopes.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and integration of all MEP systems, ensuring seamless coordination with other construction disciplines.
• Drive programme certainty, proactively identifying risks, managing dependencies, and implementing mitigation strategies.
• Maintain full accountability for commercial performance, including budgets, cost control, procurement strategy, and contract management.
• Manage and influence key stakeholders, including clients, consultants, contractors, and supply chain partners.
• Ensure all MEP systems are delivered in accordance with design specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements.
• Champion a strong health, safety, and compliance culture, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and project-specific requirements.
• Oversee commissioning and system integration, ensuring readiness for L3–L5 testing and final operational validation.
• Lead high-level project reporting, providing clear and accurate updates on progress, risks, and performance.
• Drive the handover and close-out process, ensuring all documentation, certifications, and operational readiness criteria are achieved.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or Construction Management.
• 15+ years of experience in delivering large-scale, complex construction projects, with a strong focus on MEP systems.
• Proven experience in a senior leadership role (Project Director, Senior Project Manager, or equivalent) on data centre, pharmaceutical, or other mission-critical projects.
• Deep technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including their design, installation, commissioning, and integration.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC), budgets, and procurement strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate large, multidisciplinary teams and complex supply chains.
• Extensive experience managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level, including client-facing responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, including commissioning, system integration, and handover processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to drive performance across all project functions.
• Proficiency in project management tools, reporting systems, and construction delivery methodologies.
• Professional certifications (e.g., PMP) or equivalent are advantageous.
