Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Construction Manager to act as an extension of the client organization in the delivery of a hyperscale data centre project.
This role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating multiple construction packages, ensuring that all contractors deliver in line with expectations for programme, quality, health & safety, and commissioning readiness.
The Opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Delivery
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Construction Package Managers across multiple disciplines.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining clear accountability for delivery outcomes.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative team environment focused on ownership, safety, and execution.
Construction Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring alignment with project schedules, milestones, and delivery targets.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are executed in accordance with project specifications and standards.
- Identify risks, constraints, and construction issues, driving timely resolution in coordination with contractors and stakeholders.
- Ensure proactive escalation of delays, risks, and critical issues to senior leadership.
Interface with Quality & Commissioning
- Work closely with the Quality team to support inspections, audits, and the resolution of non-conformances.
- Coordinate with the Commissioning team to ensure construction activities align with commissioning sequences and timelines.
- Facilitate effective collaboration between construction and commissioning teams, ensuring smooth transition from build to testing phases.
Health & Safety
- Champion a safety-first culture across all site operations.
- Monitor and enforce contractor compliance with health and safety regulations and project requirements.
- Participate in safety walks, audits, and incident investigations, driving continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key interface between the client and contractors, ensuring alignment on delivery expectations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders.
- Facilitate clear, consistent communication across all project parties.
- Prepare and deliver progress updates, reports, and dashboards to senior stakeholders.
Reporting & Communication
- Produce clear, concise, and insightful project reports and performance dashboards tailored to stakeholder needs.
- Communicate complex technical and construction issues effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Construction Manager on large-scale, complex projects (data centres, industrial, or mission-critical environments preferred).
- Strong track record managing multiple construction packages and multidisciplinary teams.
- In-depth understanding of construction delivery, sequencing, and site coordination.
- Experience working closely with quality and commissioning teams, with an understanding of commissioning-driven construction.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, resolve conflicts, and drive performance under pressure.
- Proficiency in project reporting, planning tools, and construction management systems.
- Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
