SEN Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education is currently recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Ipswich.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children thrive and wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils with Special Educational Needs. The school is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and proactive individual who can build positive relationships, support learning, and help create an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to succeed.

No two days are the same in this rewarding role. You'll be supporting children both inside and outside the classroom, helping them develop confidence, independence, social skills and a love of learning.

Your Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs
  • Building strong, positive relationships with children and staff
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support
  • Encouraging engagement, participation and confidence in lessons
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and parents to support pupil progress
  • Helping to create a nurturing, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Celebrating individual achievements and promoting independence

We're Looking For Someone Who Is:

  • Caring, patient and compassionate
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • Resilient and adaptable
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people
  • Committed to helping every child achieve their full potential
  • Positive, proactive and eager to learn

Desirable Experience

Previous school experience is welcomed but not essential. We would also love to hear from candidates with experience in:

  • Nurseries and Early Years settings
  • Youth clubs and community projects
  • Children's holiday clubs
  • Sports coaching
  • Mentoring young people
  • Residential childcare
  • Volunteering with children and young people
  • Scouts, Guides, Brownies or similar organisations
  • Supporting individuals with additional needs
  • Care, support work or community-based roles involving children

The school values transferable skills just as much as direct classroom experience. If you're passionate about supporting children's development and can bring a positive, nurturing approach, we'd encourage you to apply.

What You'll Gain

  • Valuable SEN and primary school experience
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • The opportunity to work within a supportive and welcoming team
  • A rewarding role where you can make a lasting impact every day
  • Excellent experience for those considering careers in teaching, psychology, therapy, social care or education

If you're looking for a rewarding role where you can inspire, support and empower young learners, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and take the next step in your education career with Protocol Education.
