SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Islington is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated support team.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs. Your role will involve helping pupils access the curriculum, build confidence and develop their independence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
• Supporting children to engage positively with classroom learning
• Assisting with literacy, numeracy and other curriculum activities
• Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and communication development
• Following individual support and learning plans
• Encouraging positive behaviour and independence
• Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff
• Creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all pupils

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who is:

• Caring, patient and approachable
• Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
• Confident building positive relationships with pupils
• Reliable, proactive and adaptable
• Able to work effectively as part of a team
• Calm and consistent when supporting challenging situations
• Previous experience working with SEN in a school setting is desirable, but relevant childcare or support experience will also be considered

Monday to Friday | 8:30am–4:00pm

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
