We’re working with a fantastic primary school in LS17 looking for a Teaching Assistant who can communicate using BSL or Makaton to support deaf and hard of hearing students. Whether you thrive in 1:1 support, enjoy working with small groups, or feel right at home supporting a full class, there’s a place for you here.
What your day might look like:
- Supporting students with hearing impairments in lessons and daily routines
- Using BSL or Makaton to help pupils access learning and express themselves
- Working closely with teachers and specialists in a well-supported department
- Creating a calm, inclusive environment where every student can thrive
What we’re looking for:
- Experience using BSL or Makaton (essential)
- A patient, positive approach and strong communication skills
- Experience in SEND or support roles is a bonus, but not essential
- Someone who genuinely cares about making a difference

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
